Once again, Justin Bieber was one of the big winners at the Billboard Music Awards: after earning the Top Social Artist award and performing “Boyfriend” at last year’s ceremony, the teen pop singer earned two key awards and took the stage twice at the 2013 event, held on Sunday night (May 19) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Bieber started off the night by performing “Take You,” a fan favorite from his 2012 album “Believe.” Carrying an aviation theme (a sign reading “Bieber Air” was supended behind him), the performance found Bieber showing off some breakneck choreography in a leather-heavy outfit before disappearing into a smoky metallic orb.

Soon after, the Biebs stepped onstage to accept the Top Male Artist trophy, thanking his family and “Belieber fan group.” It was the first of two wins for Bieber on Sunday night: the 19-year-old also earned the new, fan-driven Milestone Award, presented by Chevrolet.

“I’m 19 years old — I think I’m doing a pretty good job,” Bieber told the Las Vegas audience after several seconds of fan screams. He also seethed about those who don’t view him as a true artist: “I should be taken seriously. This other bull should not be spoken of.”

And in between the two award victories, Bieber treated the audience to another performance, this time as a sidekick to Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am. The pop pair played their recent collaboration “#thatPOWER” amidst billowing smoke and an army of robotic dancers wearing pilgrim hats.

Earlier this year, Bieber became the first artist with five No. 1 albums before their 19th birthday, when his “Believe Acoustic” album debuted in the top spot of the Billboard 200 chart. “Believe” spawned the Top 10 hits “As Long As You Love Me” and “Beauty and a Beat” over the past year.
